With text messages, emails, wall posts and tweets, it’s easier to communicate than ever before. The easier it is to talk, the faster information will spread. As you may know, word of mouth (WOM) advertising is the most effective form of consumer persuasion. Positive WOM is great, but nothing spreads faster than negative WOM.

“Get A JOB!”

If you haven’t heard these words yet, you will soon. Fortunately for you there are plenty of businesses you can run from the comfort of your own home, that aren’t nearly as bad as flipping burgers. Each one of these “jobs” utilize different abilities, so not everyone can do them, but if you have any of the prerequisite skills, each one can be fun and rewarding in their own ways.

No matter the size of the business or the age the entrepreneur, there are some rules that can be applied to every new venture. Similar to how Newton developed the 3 laws of physics, I’ve developed 10 rules of business.

Alright, maybe there are exceptions. But generally these rules are accurate.

Earlier this week my New Venture Management professor, Dr. Jeff Lewis, shared 10 things he has learned through his personal entrepreneurial experiences.

He has invented products that are being sold nationwide at major retailers, has managed a real estate finance business and worked as a church administrator and pastor. Needless to say, my professor has some good advice.
