Wait, don’t go! After about seven months of tedious redevelopment, I’m proud to present to you the new JuniorBiz.com.
Obviously a lot has changed from my old site. In this post I want to point out a few of those changes as well as declare my goals for the new year and the new decade.
How JuniorBiz has Changed
On May 25, 2009 my viewpoint on what a website should provide completely changed. That day I came across one of the most incredible sites I’ve ever seen, Blogussion.com. It was created by a 15 year old kid (at the time) and has one of the most stunning designs on the Internet.
I spent several hours reading the articles on Alex’s site and I decided to revamp my entire website.
Since then I have switched my site from Joomla to WordPress, customized the Thesis theme and moved all of my content to the new site. It was a long, long process. There are too many changes to list them all so I’ll dig into the biggest three.
100+ Business Ideas for Young Entrepreneurs
As part of my new site, I’ve created a gigantic list of business ideas. Each idea is rated on how easy it is to start and how profitable it can become.
You can use this list of business ideas to start a new business or to discover other products and services that your existing business could offer. Eventually, JuniorBiz will have guides for most of the ideas.
100+ Business Resources for Young Entrepreneurs
This is a list of blogs, books, services, Internet tools and youth entrepreneurship organizations that I have used or still use with my business. I’ve benefited a great deal from using all of them and I’m sharing them so you can do the same.
Right now there are only 41 but I’ll update it as I discover new resources.
100+ of the World’s Most Successful Young Entrepreneurs
This list is not ready. But that’s because we have just started a new project. Nick Scheidies, my editor, and I are writing a new book, 50 Interviews: Young Entrepreneurs. As we interview these entrepreneurs, they’ll be added to the list.
Goals for the New Year
I don’t like new years’ resolutions. Once you break them, they seem to disappear. Goals, on the other hand, allow for the human tendency to occasionally fall short, which I find myself doing often
.
Here is a snapshot of a few goals I have made for 2010:
- To publish the JuniorBiz Babysitting Guide by March 20th, 2010.
- To publish 50 Interviews: Young Entrepreneurs by April 20th, 2010.
- To have an Alexa ranking in the top 40,000 by December 31st, 2010. (from 627,694)
- To sell a total of 3,000 books by December 31st, 2010. (from 31)
- To have a post with over 100 comments by December 31st, 2010.
Goals for the New Decade
As long as I’m making goals for the new year, I might as well make some for the next ten years.
- To be married, have three kids, own a 3,000 square foot house and live on an acre of land. (wow… a lot is going to happen in ten years)
- To have a net worth of over $5 Million. (that’s $500K a year, baby!)
- To place in the money in the Main Event of the World Series of Poker. (will contribute to the net worth)
I’ve been making a lot of changes over the last seven months and I’m looking forward to the next year/ten years. What are your goals for the new year? New decade? Note, coming up with goals for the new decade is fun!
Also, feel free to look around. There are lots of hidden features in this site. Let me know if you find any.
Happy New Year,
Nick
P.S. I’ll be giving away five books over the next month or so. Stay tuned.
