They had two venues in mind, one in North Wales and the other was to be the Rock Channel. Caught countless dabs 50+ all returned and one nice plaice also returned - not that desperate for food! From the beach there are striking views over the Liverpool city skyline. Fleetwood Blue Mink April 16th 2011 seaforth for the flood, 8 codling from 3/12 to 4/12 great days fishing. Gethyn kept us well watered and fed during the day with Tea Coffee and bacon and Sausage sarnies, finally gary recomended another move to a mark where he was sure the fishing would improve, nobody seemed sure so gary took the bull by the horns and persuaded us to take the move. Once the tide started to shift the boat around we tried a few drifts which produced a couple of pollack and pout. Report:Took an 8 hour trip aboard "Mersey Lass" skippered by Colin. Second mackerel stop provided plenty of bait and then it was a short steam to the first mark by the bar lighthouse. At the end of the day we moved to a congor mark for an hour, no one got into an eel but there were plenty of takes that yeilded Dogs, Pouting and Huss. Crabs were a bit of a nuisance so resorted to putting them in the brigg (engine well) until the end of day. Tide was running too strong really to be fishing hte bay but we wanted to try out a bass mark. The fishing was not bad at all, mainly doggies, huss and whiting, but the whiting were averaging around a pound so that was OK. Maybe the snow melt is putting too much fresh water in the river and putting the fish off as seemed to be the case early this year. a small codling about 8oz.We moved to 3 different Also had one dab and a few whiting to 1lb. And they get worse. Based on the river mersey the club fishes numerous venues across the northwest area. Plenty of pollock to various lures: the red-tailed Power Worm was the most commonly used and seemed to do the trick. THE SKIPPER WAS SUFFERING A MASSIVE HANGOVER AND WANTED TO SLEEP, SO AFTER A COUPLE OF DRIFTS OVER SOME REEFS HE PLONKED US IN DOGGIE CITY WHILE HE WENT TO SLEEP. He would target the thornback rays with sandeel and squid with good results with two thornback rays taking the baits. Certainly the Mackerel seemed a bit thinner than they were a couple of weeks ago being replaced with masses of small whiting. Report:Fished the Wilkinson Sword trophy match in the river on sunday and our master plan looked dodgy straitaway when we were the only boat to head over towards seaforth/alex wall first, but it redeemed its self instantly when Chris hooked,and landed after some tense moments a 5lb 8oz thornback ray NICE ONE and not to be outdone I added a bonus flounder about a pound so after a while it was off to otterspool to catch an eel,which arrived quickly but under size followed by another just in size next in line was a decent dab and a whiting or a plaice perhaps so off to the moorings off vale park and got a good size dab.Then it was to be the rock channel for a bass which we didnt get but we did have a couple of pound plus plaice and that was it,time up.Back at the weigh in most boats had found it hard to get some species in size and we finished up second with 5 species and won heaviest fish with the thorny and second best plaice alltogether worth Â£200. chacabuco dropped to the bottom and sites exactly upringht in 20m.
